Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and nestled on the shores of stunning Lake Wakatipu, Southern Rata  was founded in one of the most inspirational places in the world - Queenstown, New Zealand. We've now relocated to Wanganui on the west coast of the North Island and it's a creative hotspot so keep checking back for new goodies.

Southern Rata was founded with the motivation of supporting New Zealand made products and the fabulously talented people behind these creations.

Our missions or really just what we're all about:

Always New Zealand made – all products are made in New Zealand and we shall continually source goods made from recycled materials and natural fibres

Always high quality – each product  is quality tested inhouse and we are passionate about sourcing the best and the most original, so regularly getting out there and finding new stuff will always remain a priority

Integrity of people – Southern Rata appreciates it is totally reliant on the creativity of its New Zealand suppliers and the loyalty of its customers

Environmental – all packaging shall be reusable and sustainable and a portion of profits will be directed to Project Crimson – a conservation initiative supporting the protection and enhancement of New Zealand's Pohutakawa and Rata tree species

Each product can be traced to its origin and you can learn a bit about the creator like their favourite New Zealand destination, the three things they can't live without or the scariest thing they've ever done! Be inspired by their creativity and passion and know that you are supporting two great causes - kiwi made and rata trees.
